Our method of work, defined "at knife", is completely artisan and we only use wood off natural colour.

Every little particular is only wood.

The tecnique is the following:
once you decide what you are going to draw, you trace the drawing one a wooden sheet (thick ½ mm) which will be the base of the inlaying; after that, with a proper knife and care, you engrave along the contours of a singular particular till to remove completely that piece.

Once you choose the kind of wood that will take the place of the tessera you have just took away, you put it under the hole and with meticulous patience, you pay attention to the different grains of thr wood so that it is possible to the fine the depth; once you find it, you cut he new wood following the contours of the window previously created.

So now you can took away the new tessera from the below sheet, embeding it in the space get in the base sheet and temporarily stopping it with a transparent adhesive tape.

The process is repeated with all the other parts of the drawing till to complete it.

In order to realize a good inlaying, it is necessary not to have empty spaces among the joints of every piece.

Once you finish, the inlaying is sticked on a multi layers wooden sheet (thick 14-16 mm).

The inlaying is put in an hydraulic press and by a strong pressure to fix definitively the thin inlaid sheet on the multi layers.

After taking off the adhesive tape. You make the surface snooth and then you polish it so that the inlaying becomes bright and shining making the grains more manifest.
